About Own Brand Media
Own Brand is a publishing and events business spreading big ideas in entrepreneurship, innovation and creativity.
We want to encourage people to go out and start things – a new business, a social enterprise, a campaign, an arts project, whatever. To do that we develop concepts for live events and publishing projects, and then partner with talented folk, exciting brands and forward-thinking organisations to bring those concepts to life.
In the process we also create unique opportunities for those partners to connect with (or deliver services to) creative, innovative and enterprising people.
Here’s a little bit of what we’re up to:
In-house: Publishing | Events
Paid Services: Custom Publishing | Workshops | Licensing and White-Label Guides | Sponsorship
Publishing
The core of our business is digital publishing – developing online projects that use real examples of entrepreneurial businesses and creative people to help inspire others.
Examples include Iddictive.com (2009), billed as ‘inspiration for unconventional entrepreneurs’, and Friday Afternoon Projects (Autumn 2010) which will profile insightful side projects from creative professionals across the globe.
In Summer 2010 we launch Iddictive Guides: visually-dynamic short guides to the key trends in business, innovation and creativity as well as industry-themed compilations of exciting startups and the entrepreneurs behind them.
Each short guide will be released free under a Creative Commons license with custom branded versions being made available to enterprise agencies, membership organisations and anyone else involved in promoting entrepreneurship.

Events
Our first events kicked off in June 2010 with Idea Hacking (part social event part brain food), and will be followed swiftly by a day-long ‘techpreneurship’ conference, Start / Code / Grow, in September.
We aim to run simple, lean, innovative events based on big ideas. The focus is on bringing together smart, creative people in exciting and even (gasp) fun ways. We have no interest in recycling the same tired ideas and formats.
With that in mind, the ‘default setting’ is to seek out collaborations wherever possible – so if you’ve an idea you think we might like or would like us to help bring an interesting angle to your event, make sure to get in touch.
Custom Publishing and Content Development
In addition to our own publishing projects, we’re happy to work with enterprise agencies, incubators, public sector bodies, membership organisations, businesses and even other publishers to develop, or contribute to, projects in both digital and print formats.
How about commissioning a guide to your industry, location or chosen topic?
Workshops
Taking the same principle of using real world examples to make big ideas more tangible, we can develop and deliver exciting workshops for more or less any audience.
Potential topics might include: entrepreneurship, innovation, creativity, digital media, self-employment, social entrepreneurship, entreprise for the creative industries or anything else that mixes big ideas and business.
Licensing and White-Label Guides
If you’re involved in promoting entrepreneurship or innovative business thinking, you’ll understand the challenges involved in creating or sourcing good materials.
While almost everything we publish is released under a creative commons license (i.e. free to share for non-commercial purposes), we also invite organisations to purchase white-label and custom branded versions of our guides for their own use.
From as little as £300 per guide, we’ll replace our branding with yours and include additional information like an organisational ‘about page’ or even some advertising*. Within 2 working days we’ll deliver a high-resolution print-ready PDF guide which you can distribute electronically, host on your website or have printed.
To request full pricing information, see our schedule of upcoming guides or discuss your needs in detail, please contact mark [at] ownbrandmedia.com or use our contact form.
*You could even use advertising or sponsorship to help offset the cost to you.
Sponsorship
Limited opportunities exist for sponsorship of our upcoming events and publishing projects. Please get in touch for rates and details or download our current prospectus for a quick overview.
